Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, GCFR,BNER,GCON was born 20^TH November, 1957, He hold B.Sc degree in Zollogy, Masters in Hydrobiology and Fishery Biology and a PhD degree in Zoology.  Before venturing into politics he worked as an education inspector, lecturer, and environmental-protection officer. He was sworn in as the 14^th Head of State in Nigeria on the 6^th of May, 2010 though in an acting capacity but on April 18^th, 2011 he was declared winner of the conducted general election. Prior to becoming president, he served as Governor of Bayelsa State( 2005 – 2007), Vice President of Nigeria (2007 – 2010) As Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State

On 29 May 1999, Jonathan was sworn in as Deputy Governor of Bayelsa alongside Diepreye Alamieyeseigha who was sworn in as the governor of the state on the platform of PDP. Jonathan served as Deputy Governor until December 2005.
As Governor of Bayelsa State.

On 9 December 2005, Jonathan  who was Deputy Governor was sworn in as Governor of Bayelsa State upon the impeachment of the then current Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha  by the Bayelsa State Assembly after being charged with money laundering in the United Kingdom.
As Vice President.
He assumed office in the capacity of Vice President with President Yar’Adua  on the29th May, 2007after being declared winner of the April 21^st , 2007 general election.
As Acting  President.

The motion moved on the floor of the senate on the  9^th of February 2010, paved way for Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to assume the position of Acting President as President Yar'Adua was already away for medical treatment in Saudi Arabia in November 2009. His first day as Acting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was on the 10^th February, 2010.
